Craig Melville

I've been a photographer for over 20 years. I started professionally at 18 shooting commercial and advertising work before spending years as a fine art landscape photographer. Photography has always been less of a job and more of an obsession.

Life took a turn when I met my now wife and I needed a career that could move with us. I pivoted into my other passion - software development - and spent 6 years in tech before we finally put down roots in Santa Clarita. When the dust settled, it felt like the right time to pick the camera back up. Given my love of architecture and design, real estate was the obvious landing spot. That was almost three years ago, and I haven't looked back.

What I bring to a shoot is a pretty unusual combination: two decades of trained photographic instinct, and a software engineer's obsession with systems and efficiency. I've built my own suite of tools to streamline everything from scheduling to delivery, which means faster turnaround and a cleaner process than you'd typically expect - without it costing more. The tech runs quietly in the background so the experience stays simple on your end.

The work itself still genuinely excites me. There's nothing quite like walking into a beautifully designed space and knowing exactly how to make it sing. And when a seller pulls me aside and says get me the shot that sells this place - that's my favorite kind of brief.
